
Pylephlebitis is septic thrombosis of the portal venous system due to thrombophlebitis at some of the draining veins related to infectious diseases.
Its diagnosis has increased possibly because of the improvement in imaging methods and the finding and early treatment has contributed to a decline in the rate of associated mortality.
This study presents the case of a woman who developed a pylephlebitis secondary to recurrent cholangitis due to stenosis of the bile duct.
