
The progress of biomedical and biopsychosocial medicine in recent decades has led to an increase in clinical applications of ultrasound and thus the number of its users. It is nowadays recognized as a natural and direct doctor-patient means of communication and an attractive technology for its hippocratic compatibility. On the other hand, technological development has provided a better image quality and new modules in its implementation. For all these reasons, ultrasonography is now considered a distinct medical technology based on image while the most popular imaging modality today.
The life cycle of clinicians has also changed the perspective of "ultrasound examinations carried out by doctors who know the symptoms and patients in detail," thus becoming the clinical ultrasound. Clinical ultrasounds for digestive diseases is a new concept nowadays, the proximity ultrasonography, being performed in order to take immediate clinical decisions. Its aim is to provide a rapid response to important clinical questions taking signs and symptoms into account. It is a direct extension of the clinical examination.
